While India achieves its E20 ethanol blending target, vehicle compatibility disputes and food-security concerns persist. Synthetic drop-in fuels—produced via coal gasification, biomass hydropyrolysis, methanol, ethanol, or captured CO₂—offer chemically identical alternatives that run in existing engines without blending or modifications.
